The purpose of this class is to introduce students to a variety of art media and to increase their appreciation for and understanding of art techniques and principles. Students will experience and learn drawing with pencil, charcoal, pastels, and pen and ink. They will study color theory and work with colored pencils, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paints. Other media may be presented if time and materials allow. Videos and reference books are used to supplement the curriculum of the class. Students will have a field trip to observe and critique art work, including art medium not taught during the regular class year. They will also observe people creating art.
